The Family

Picture

Salena Franchitto is the third generation of a well know wine industry family from the Riverland.

Generation one, Nonno Michael spent his years working on the land gaining an understanding that can only be achieved by spending everyday out there. Once his son became old enough, Michael spent his time imparting his wisdom and knowledge onto Bob.

Generation two, Bob Franchitto, taking what he learnt from his father, he refined his skills by helping family friends on their blocks before buying his own. He then applied his knowledge and started his own winery, Salena Estate Wines, names after his daughter.

Generation three, Salena herself. After attending primary school in the Riverland and getting her roots in the winery life, she came to Adelaide for high school and University obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Communication. After getting her degree she went on to get experience in Events and Marketing before coming back to the family.

Salena now works as the Marketing Manager for her family’s winery, Salena Estate Wines.

Silhouette is still her passion, but you can never have enough wine.

What is Silhouette?

Picture

Look, look closer and tell me what you see, for the closer you look, the less you’ll perceive. While there may be tricks and illusions on the outside, on the inside is much more straightforward. High quality, smooth and easy drinking wines for all occasions. Acquiring grapes from all over South Australia allows Silhouette to showcase the best of what the wine state of Australia has to offer.

Its inception year presents the following varieties, Lagrein, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Shiraz. Lagrein is an Italian variety from the north of Italy and is related to the Syrah and Pinot Noir grapes and Sangiovese is an Italian variety from the Tuscan region in northern Italy. Shiraz is a French wine variety originally from the Rhone region in south of France and Petit Verdot is also a French variety most notably from the Bordeaux region in southwest France.
